Planning & Legislative Services manages land use in the Town of St. Paul, including long-range planning and forecasting, reviewing development permits, subdivision applications, formulating land use plans and policies and conducting public consultation on proposed land use changes. Planning in the Town of St. Paul (like all Alberta communities) is guided by a number of statutory documents.

Planning activities must conform with the regulations outlined in these planning documents:  Municipal Development Plan (MDP), Land Use Bylaw (LUB) including changes, Area Structure Plans (ASP), and Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP).

Chickens & Your Backyard

Wanting to keep chickens in your backyard? 

Chickens are only allowed on properties over 2 acres in size in the Controlled Urban Development District (CUD)

Please see the zoning map to confirm which lands are zoned as CUD. 

If your lands meet the above requirements, you may apply for development permit to keep chickens. Please apply at the Town of St. Paul Office at 5101-50 Street.
