Kamloops Residential School Official Statement

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the flags are lowered in the Town of St. Paul to commemorate the unthinkable loss of 215 children whose remains have been discovered at the Kamloops Indian Residential School.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Tk’kemlúps te Secwépemc peoples and indeed all First Nations people in Canada as they grieve this horrendous loss. We grieve with you for these 215 young souls whose lives were so unnecessarily cut short.

This serves as a grim reminder of the damaging and dark times in Canada’s history.
